Become a founding member of the VA Digital Service

What is the VA Digital Service?
A new technical team you'll help build within the Department of Veterans Affairs with support from VA Secretary Bob McDonald, focused on serving more than 8 million Veterans who depend on VA for benefits and services. You'll get to work alongside world-class engineers and designers from places like Google and Amazon.

What types of people are we looking for?
A variety of roles are needed, including software engineers, system administrators, designers, and DevOps, with specific interest in those with experience in:

+ Building high-performing engineering teams from scratch
+ Migrating from legacy systems to modern infrastructure
+ Healthcare technology

The particulars
You should focus on your accomplishments and experience in directly designing and developing digital services in your résumé. This position is a 2-year term appointment, as opposed to a permanent position, and can be extended up to 4 years. You’ll be eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. This job requires a background check. The location is virtual, but has a lot of travel to Washington, DC.
